1. About this policy
Rey operates OpenRey. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit openrey.com, create an account, contact support, or purchase ReyGame directly when sales are available. Direct sales and current development downloads are paused.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: username, email, password information, date of birth, selected country, account dates, and email-verification status.
- Website and security details: session identifiers, browser information, request and error records, and identifiers used to limit abusive attempts. Cloudflare also processes IP addresses and other technical information to deliver and protect the website.
- Support: messages, contact details, screenshots, and files you choose to send.
- Direct purchases: account and product references, payment amounts, currency, status, dates, ownership, refunds, and transaction or payer information supplied by PayPal.
Date of birth and country are currently stored in your account profile. Country information may also support billing and tax records when direct sales are available. Providing these fields does not itself verify age or tax residence. Required fields are marked on the registration form; you can browse public pages without an account.
3. How we use information
We use information to manage accounts and login sessions, verify email and recover accounts when email delivery is available, prevent fraud and abuse, handle support, confirm purchases and access, process refunds, and meet applicable tax, accounting, and legal obligations.
Where a legal basis is required, information needed to provide your requested service is used to carry out our agreement with you. Security and support rely on legitimate interests where allowed; required financial records rely on legal obligations. If a separate use requires consent, we will ask. You may withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
4. Providers and sharing
- Cloudflare provides hosting, database infrastructure, network security, and Turnstile verification.
- PayPal processes direct payments and transaction updates when checkout is available. Its interface can process information when loaded, even if no purchase is completed. We do not receive your full card number.
- Resend receives your email address and verification or password-reset message when transactional email is configured.
We may also disclose information at your request, as necessary to investigate fraud or protect people's rights, or when legally required. We do not sell or rent personal information or share it for third-party targeted advertising.
Patreon, Discord, X, and YouTube are independent platforms with their own policies. Those policies also apply when you use them to contact Rey or purchase a Patreon membership.
5. Cookies
We use an essential, protected session cookie to keep you signed in for up to 30 days, unless you sign out or the session ends earlier. It is not used for advertising. Cloudflare and PayPal may use their own cookies or similar technology when their interfaces load. You can remove or block cookies in your browser, but account or payment features may stop working.
6. Retention and international processing
Account information is kept while your account is open and as needed to provide the service. Purchase and payment records may be kept longer for access, refunds, disputes, fraud prevention, and legal or financial recordkeeping. Support and technical records are kept according to the issue, security needs, and provider arrangements.
Sessions expire after up to 30 days, verification links after 24 hours, and reset links after one hour. Expired or used records are removed through scheduled cleanup; expiry and deletion are separate. Providers may retain logs or backup copies under their own arrangements.
Our providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your country. Their linked policies explain their practices and safeguards. You can ask Rey about retention or international processing of your information.
7. Your rights and requests
You can request access, correction, or deletion through the support page. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent where we rely on it, and complain to your data protection authority.
Identify your message as a privacy request and ask to continue privately before sharing account details. We may need to verify your identity, but will never need your password or reset link. We respond within applicable legal time limits and explain any records we must retain. Deleting essential account information may end account access. Requests to Rey do not automatically delete records held independently by PayPal, Patreon, or community platforms.
8. Game data
Historic ReyGame builds keep saves, settings, player state, and debug logs on your device. Debug logs are not automatically sent to Rey. We receive them only if you choose to share them for support. Review files before sharing, and remove private information you do not want to send.
9. Security
We use secure connections, protected sessions, request limits, and payment verification. Passwords are stored as salted hashes rather than readable passwords. No system guarantees absolute security; keep your credentials private and report suspected unauthorized access through the support page.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above shows the latest revision, and we will provide additional notice or request consent where legally required. Privacy questions, including concerns about a child's information, can be started through the support page.
